Description

COOL & UNIQUE 1971-72 DELTA QUEEN MEDALLION SEALED IN ACRYLIC PAPERWEIGHT~1/KIND In my opinion, this GOLD COLORED COIN/MEDALLION IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION and comes SEALED INSIDE THE CENTER OF A COOL CLEAR ACRYLIC CUBE. This EXCEPTIONALLY RARE AND ESSENTIALLY “ONE OF A KIND” ITEM has no defects/flaws that I have observed or am aware of. It has always been carefully stored, and/or displayed, in appropriate climate controlled conditions ever since it was new so, in my opinion, it is in ESSENTIALLY NEW CONDITION. However, I would defer to the numerous photographs included with this listing and ask that you please use your own judgment as to condition and description. Below is a link to a Wikipedia article about the Delta Queen that may help you gain a better understanding and more knowledge regarding the history and background of this item: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Queen_Steamboat_Company I have also attached the following link below that discusses the period apparently referred to, and depicted on, the coin/medallion that is inside the acrylic cube in this auction: https://nkytribune.com/2021/05/the-river-fifty-years-ago-this-week-the-delta-queen-departed-cincinnati-for-nashville-oh-the-memories/ As stated in the article contained in the link above ”…on Monday, May 24th, 1971, at 6:05 p.m., the DELTA QUEEN departed the Cincinnati Public Landing for Nashville, Tennessee, on the Cumberland River with 122 passengers on board. Happily for my recollection, the days of the week on the 1971 calendar correspond with this year’s dates….” This 1971-72 time period was apparently a rather tumultuous and eventful period of time in the history the Delta Queen. While I been unable to pinpoint the details, it appears it is this time frame that forms at least a portion of the primary focus being acknowledged and/or commemorated by the item being offered for sale in this auction. I have always taken great pride in my collection, so most all of my items are in EXCELLENT shape and have been very carefully taken care of in clean and climate controlled conditions and come from a smoke and pet free home. This item is certainly no exception. I am not a dealer in these items, so I am not in a position to offer returns or refunds. All of my items are being sold “AS IS” with no warranties or other assurances. (ie NO RETURNS/REFUNDS). Thus, please review all of the photographs very carefully for condition, measurements and other details. I have set an initial asking price that I believe is extremely reasonable for such a nice and hard to find item. Please don’t miss out on this great opportunity to add this great item to your collection. Thank you for your interest in my auctions.
